This article offers the polysemic interpretation of the political from the perspective of contemporary philosophy, attending to an unprecedented event in the history of Chile, which took place during the civil-military dictatorship (1973 - 1990), namely, the immolation of Sebastián Acevedo. For this purpose, is carried out an analysis from the contemporary philosophy, which considers the contributions of Arendt, Foucault, Agamben, among others. The main assumption is that, in this case, the political restores the exercise of citizenship that is configured in the coexisting relationship between the various meanings interpretable from the event. The method of research considers the analysis of academic as well as media secondary written sources of the time. The main conclusion is that the meanings linked to the word, the body and violence promote the re-inscription of political aspects under conditions of legal exceptionality and State violence.
