Resumen
Chile is a long and narrow strip of land, in some areas it is only 90 kilometers from the mountain range to the sea, as in others it reaches a distance of 445 kilometers. Natural gas is the main means of heating in urban areas and the preferred fuel in thermal industrial processes that require reducing their carbon footprint. In this context, the pipelines must cross deserts, rivers, forested areas, among others. The construction techniques of these pipelines, as well as the materials used, are diverse, given the seismicity present in Chile. An economic evaluation is proposed that involves service resilience in an area in the north of the country, where the geographical characteristics of the crossroads and the effects of climate change force companies to oversize mitigation measures and maintenance procedures, to contribute in operational continuity.
