The aim of the present study was to compare the concentration of transforming growth factors beta I (TGF-β1), with two diferent blood collection methods in clinically healthy dogs. All dogs included in the study (n = 60) had normal physiological and hematological values. Blood collection was obtanined from the cephalic vein and were divided into 2 groups (1: vacuum tubes and 2: Without vacuum). The samples were centrifuged 2 times at 1500 rpm for 5 minutes. Plasma were obtained and the concentration of TGF-β1 were measured by ELISA. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS and differences between groups were calculated using Mann-Whitney's test. The concentration of TGF-β1 in group 1 (28.76 pg / ml) was significantly higher (p = 0.0163) than in of group 2 (16.92 pg / ml). The results of the present study demostrate that the blood collection method influence the concentration of TGF-β1 in plasma and must be considered in future investigations and treatments.
