Resumen

The objective of this research was to determine the attitudes toward science of students from the second semester of high school, attending a private school in Morelos, Mexico. The sample consisted of 174 boys and girls between 15 and 18 years old. In the data collection it was used a standardized questionnaire (PAC), with significant internal consistency index, including 50 statements using a Likert scale that assesses the Teaching, Image, Social Impact and Characteristics of science. The analysis of the results was based on descriptive and inferential statistics, and it was evident that students have a favorable and positive attitude towards science. A comparison between the indicators showed that more positive attitudes are related to the Image, and less positive to the Social aspect. Overall, no significant differences between the responses of men and women were found. The findings become important for the direct implication that attitudes have in the process of teaching and learning of science.
