Resumen

Objective: To determine the barriers and facilitators of a people applying the Elisa test for the diagnosis of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in primary health care from the perspective of health professionals working in these places group. Methods: A descriptive qualitative study based on content analysis approach described by Krippendorff. 30 health professionals working two Family Health Centers of the municipality of La Pintana, Santiago de Chile indepth interviews were conducted. To maintain the methodological rigor criteria were used Guba & Lincoln. Results: factors associated with timely access to test Elisa perceived by professionals were identified, including some that hinder and others who provide (social stigma of HIV, bureaucracy in the process of taking the test Elisa and lack of privacy in the application test, trust relationship between user and professional and centralization of test in Family Health Centers). Conclusions: Knowledge of the factors both facilitating and hindering mentioned by professionals working in centers where taking the Elisa test should be considered in the design and implementation of new strategies is done and modification of existing ones, with in order to increase the number of people who access the test and thereby improve the quality of care and user satisfaction.
