A Model Predictive Control Applied to Single-Phase Packed-U-Cells Converter

Resumen

This paper proposes a Modulated Model Predictive Control technique for a Single Phase Packed-U-Cells Converter, resulting in fixed switching frequency while maintaining the basic features of the standard Model Predictive Control approach, such as inclusion of model and control nonlinearities, constraints and multiobjective optimization on a straightforward way. Specifically, the proposed algorithm arranges the converter voltage vectors in a switching sequence to be applied over a sampling period in order to control the output current, balance internal capacitors voltages and minimize the number of switches commutations. Simulation results are shown comparing the proposed technique with the standard one in terms of output current and voltage, regulation of the internal capacitor voltage, harmonic content and number of switch commutations.
