Abstract

This paper presents a comparison of several regenerative cascaded inverters and introduces a new topology with a reduced number of power semiconductors. The control strategy of the converters is discussed in detail and results are provided to evaluate the topologies and the control methods. All the discussed regenerative topologies generate a high quality load voltage and almost sinusoidal input currents even during regeneration and therefore, other criteria such as switch count are used to make the evaluation of the different alternatives.
