Abstract
This article explores the discursive-multimodal representation of the high school student “liceana” in the Chilean digital press. Through a qualitative methodology and following the categories of the Appraisal system, eight journalistic texts were analyzed. The students are represented by other social actors legitimized by their position of power who physically and psychologically attack them. In this sense, alternative digital media reproduces hegemonic readings of reality, naturalizing adult-centered and sexist approaches to secondary school students. This confirms the invisibility and under-representation that women face in shaping public space.
