Abstract
The text answers the question: how do some technologies transform organizational components and allow complexity reduction at trading desks? The framework of the study is based on contemporary contributions in organizational theory and social studies of finance. Methodology is based on participant observation and interviews at Chilean trading desks. Results show that anticipation, knowledge and management of financial markets are transformed in tandem with technology ‘translation’ –technical mediation process. Such translation process leads to adaptive strategies related with the mediational effects that Bloomberg and other ‘screens’ have on trading desks operation.
