Abstract

This article presents the main contributions of the special issue "Social movements, activisms and resistances from the school of the Izquierdas Journal. The presentation is divided into three blocks. First, the contemporary global historical and educational context in which the papers are set is presented, a context marked by the tension between the role of education as a reproducer or generator of resistance to the dominant social order. The 18 articles that make up the monograph are presented below and the two thematic axes into which the special issue is organized are described: (1) Practices of resistance and activism within the school space and (2) Social movements, resistances and activisms outside the school space. Finally, we point out some considerations that we draw from the reading of the theoretical and empirical material presented to the special issue, composed of highly relevant voices from different geographies and traditions.
