Abstract
The importance of research in the field of strategic group theory (TGE) has increased notoriously in recent years, with innumerable works that address these topics both from the perspective of strategic thinking, as well as from the perspective of a tool to analyze competition in industrial sectors. This theory assumes that the industry is heterogeneous and is made up of groups, which in turn are made up of entities that follow strategies and have similar resources. The main objective of this study is to analyze the articles published about strategic groups, to make visible the scientific production that is being generated in this field. A search is carried out in specialized journals (period 1975-2019) in the Science Citation Index. It is a descriptive-longitudinal bibliometric study of the scientific production of the TGE, developed based on a scientometric analysis. Among the main results, it can be highlighted that the most influential authors in strategic groups are in the United States, being the country that contributes the most to scientific research in this field, generating a strong and consolidated position. For its part, the Strategic Management Journal is the one that has published the largest number of articles, and the University of Illinois System is the benchmark in terms of this type of publication. In relation to the keywords used, a high level of interconnections is observed, with performance and strategic groups being the most used.
