N2 - The objective of this qualitative research is to identify the factors that facilitate or hinder the acquisition or strengthening of cultural competencies in the work of primary health care professionals in Chile. Based on semi-structured interviews carried out with 32 professionals who work in a municipality of Santiago, a content analysis was performed, considering four dimensions of cultural competencies: awareness, knowledge, skills, and motivation. This analysis was discussed in eight conversation groups with primary care professionals, academics, and members of migrant groups. This made it possible to identify patterns in treatment and attention that support certain practices and values. It is concluded that the factors analyzed challenge the professionals and constitute an input to stimulate the individual and team reflection processes.
