Cost Function Design for Stable Performance of Modulated Model Predictive Control for Grid-Tied Inverters

Abstract

This paper proposes a quadratic cost function for Modulated Model Predictive Control, M2 PC, designed in a way such as to guarantee that the states of the inverter under consideration will converge to the desired steady-state operating point. Simulation results are presented comparing the performance of the implemented M2 PC and a classical resonant current controller for a grid-tied two-level inverter with L filter. The simulation results have demonstrated the good performance of the proposed approach, showing the stability and performance despite the model of the implemented M2 PC.
