Charges and the boundary in Chern-Simons gravity

Abstract

In this work a new set of boundary conditions for Chern-Simons gravity that lead to a fully gauge invariant action is analyzed. This particular form of the action reproduces the standard results of black hole thermodynamics and determines that the algebra of charges of diffeomorphisms at the horizon is the Virasoro algebra.
