Abstract

1. The contractile activity of the cat urinary bladder was studied. Administration of adrenoceptor agonists and antagonists revealed that the responses of the smooth muscle are mediated by both pre-and post-synaptic α-adrenoceptor and by β2-adrenoceptor. 2. The evidence suggests that the cat urinary bladder possess muscarinic receptors and support the existence of a cholinergic link in noradrenaline transmission.
